Moron Manny, Moe and Luke

Here's an article on their arrest that reads like it was faxed from We Are Change HQ. Check out these laughable claims:

The 22-year old is a slender and clean-cut figure who typically wears a business jacket and tie in public and keeps his hair short and his face clean-shaven. He is certainly not the visual you'd expect of a thug, a violent person or a criminal.

Gimme a break. Luke does not commonly wear a business jacket in public; he wears a suit he bought for $2 at Salvation Army and he only does it when he wants to look less thuggish. He typically wears a NY Yankees baseball cap and a black shirt with the ubiquitous "Investigate 9-11" logo.

Rudkowski was even told that he would be charged with 'impersonating a member of the press', even though he carried credentials on his person.

That's the evidence that he was impersonating a member of the press. The credentials were bogus.

You see, Rudkowski, Verias and Valencia are all volunteer members of a non-profit organization called WeAreChange. As such, Rudkowski has become a philanthropist of sorts, conducting fund-raising activities to help offset the medical expenses incurred by first responders who have suffered profound medical complications after the events of September 11, 2001.

Oh, my lord. Luke the philanthropist? Give us a hint here, Luke; how much money did you raise for the FealGood Foundation at the 2007 anniversary?

Rudkowski and his mates could face stiff time and fines if found guilty. Within hours of their incarcerations, the online communities and social networks were ablaze with outrage over the arrests. Oddly enough, the media fell utterly silent.

Well, she's right about that; the only outlet that has covered the story is Infowhores. Shockingly, ABC News did not lead off with a story about how some schnook from Brooklyn got arrested for trespassing.

I listened to a bit of Luke's moaning about his treatment; he wants us to know that there are cockroaches at Central Booking. Cockroaches! He also claims to have made some sort of deal with Bloomberg to lay off the mayor in return for the latter's assistance on the James Zadroga bill. But Bloomberg turned against his word. There's a compound word for that, and the first part is bull.

Kevin Barrett Back Inciting Muslims Against US

Well Kevin Barrett, to whom asking "are you still beating your wife" is not just a trick question, is back from his temporary retirement, and is now trying to convince his fellow Muslims that the US it out to get them. Odd, I seem to remember serving in Bosnia, and Dick Cheney never once told me I was on the wrong side.

WARNING OF A GLOBAL WAR ON ISLAM

“The best jihad is a word of truth flung in the face of a tyrant.”

Prophet Muhammad [Sunan al-Nasa'i #4209]

We have lived with calamity for seven years since the so-called terrorist attacks on September 11 2001. At that time we were told that evil Muslim fanatics has committed suicide in the process of killing thousands of innocent civilians. The events of that day ushered in a dark new era. For many Muslims it has meant death and torture, for others loss of livelihood and imprisonment, and for others, as yet untouched by disaster, it has meant public ridicule and mistrust, a sense of gathering
doom.

We have observed large numbers of Muslims in the West pretending that life is therwise normal, that all will soon be well again, that this will blow over. They are like ostriches with their heads in the sand. They hide from reality in order to preserve their enjoyment of the Dunia.

You know that suicide is forbidden in Islam. You know that harming innocent civilians is forbidden in Islam. You know that the source of these prohibitions is the Qur’an itself . Yet you continue to believe that “Muslims” were involved in the terrorist attacks? Ask yourself if the alleged motivation of the hijackers could possibly be true. Is it possible that actual hijackers could expect “72 virgins” after violating two of the most fundamental prohibitions in Islam? Come now. Is it possible that the hijackers were all “jealous of our freedoms?” What freedoms?

Another B-List Celebrity Flirts with the Troof

Via Hot Air, actor (and I presume rapper) Mos Def argues al Qaeda with Christopher Hitchens and Salman Rushdie. This so typifies the truther mindset, "Hey, I dont' know, I am just asking questions, but I am going to ignore your answers" This is from Bill Maher's HBO show, so a language warning. And here I thought he did a pretty decent job as Ford Prefect...

Luke Freed

The citizen urinalist is out on his own recognizance.

According to a post on the WeAreChange blog Rudowski and other members of WeAreChange were confronted and asked questions by hotel security and Bloomberg’s security detail. Rudkowski was apparently singled out and forcibly detained at the hotel and subsequently handed over to the New York Police, who arrested him on a charge of trespassing. Rudkowski was also charged with impersonating a member of the press.

I think it's obvious that the cops have an infiltrator in We Are Change New York, providing them with information on Luke's movements. Good job, NYPD!

Update: More from Luke here:

This is Luke Rudkowski here, just got home from the most inhuman place in NYC, Manhattan central bookings. The stories that I have from that place and about everything that has happened while shooting for my new film "Truth to Power" is insane and surreal.

I will try to buy another camera tomorrow in between my class's in order to give a live video broadcast this Monday March 30th, 10PM Eastern Time on wearechange.org.

Oh, Lord. Another Luke Rudkowski film?

Letter from a NYC Jail

I cannot believe that I, Luke Rudkowski, was viscously arrested by the NY City Po-Lice while exercising my free rights as a citizen urinalist. I had my valid Info-Whores press pass with me; we even got it covered with plastic so it would look more official--lamin something they call it.

So far they have not abused or tortured me much, apparently knowing that I'm with Alex Jones. A couple of the cops told me when they arrested me that "We know you're not guilty and 9-11 Truth is completely right, but we'd lose our pensions if we didn't run you in."

It's actually pretty boring in jail, but I've been educating the sheeple here about the New World Order and the FEMA death camps. I warned them about eating the food. I wasn't tempted when I looked at the runny eggs, but I am getting pretty hungry. Fortunately my cellmate is really friendly, and he promised to fix me up a nice tossed salad in a couple of minutes.

We Are Change Gangleader Busted

No word on whether there were any girls in wheelchairs around, or sleeping parents. Surely given the many crimes committed by WAC members, it is past time for the Feds to declare We Are Change to be a terrorist organization.

Update: Check out this:

The NYPD Intelligence Officer saw photos of Luke shooting a gun at a shooting range and was asking him if he had a license for that and accusing him of owning guns without a license.

Remember, this is the guy who claims that his organization is based on Gandhi's principles of non-violence.

Glenn Beck Brings in Popular Mechanics to Debunk FEMA Camps

I still think the guy is a bit touched, but Glenn Beck has now enlisted Popular Mechanics magazine, famous for their 9/11 debunking issue and book, to take on the FEMA camp conspiracy theories. Hey, at the very least how can you not like someone who sends PrisonPlanet into fits like this?

AE911 Truth Spokesman Compares Holocaust Deniers to Racial Minorities

In following up to Richard Gage's recent speech at a conference of extremists, and interview with a newspaper founded by a prominent Holocaust denier, I inquired at the "comment" section of their site if Gage was aware of this beforehand, and if he was not, if he still stands by his appearance. I wasn't expecting to get a response, but I did get one earlier, not from Gage, but another representative of the group. Given the context of the question, the last sentence (emphasis mine) was a bit shocking, even coming from a truther.

I read you [sic] memo concerrning [sic] Mr Gage's presentation to the Freedom Law School. Yes these fringe groups are a problem. They have messy past lives and some folks are crazy. Yet they are willing to listen and write stories about how 3 NYC buildings on 9-11-01 disintegrated all in less than a minute total time actually less the 40 seconds. Now the progressive media and the mainstream media not only remain SILENT but still support the "official story" Oh yes what are we to do when asked to present. Reply by saying that they are not pure enough? Just what should we say? It is the TRUTH that we are about and while we see part of the picture we do not see it all. I suspect that the progressive media feels that in some way the 911Ttuth movement is just as crazy and tainted as you describe Freedom Law School. There was a time not too long ago when talking to black men and women was considered dangerous and illconsidered [sic] for proper white folks. Oh to lable [sic] the other side.

I asked further for Gage's response and he stated that he could not speak for him. Although why he could not ask him for his opinion, I still do not know. In any case I then e-mailed Gage personally, but have received no response.

The Continuing Saga of the NYC Ballot Initiative

It's moved to a new site, apparently to hide the direct connection with Les Jamieson. They're still stuck on 31,000 signatures, which is where they were last August when they gave up hitting the 2008 ballot. They've still got the idiotic $10 million per year budget which they claim will come from private sources, which of course means that the hilarity will continue even if they were to somehow get the measure on the ballot and get it passed. I got a hunch that Ed Asner isn't parting with any of his own funds.

9-11 "Troof" Only 3rd Greatest Conspiracy Theory?

Hard to believe, but it finishes behind the New World Order and the Government's Hiding the Aliens.

If we had performed this survey three years ago, this conspiracy theory may have come in at the number-one spot. This is not to say there is a diminished amount of speculation about various levels of government involvement, but that a layer of fatigue has found its way into traditional conspiracy theory circles.

And:

Indeed, those concerned about a "conspiracy within a conspiracy" need only look at the dozens (if not hundreds) of factions owing allegiance of sorts to the larger "9/11 Truth" campaign. Most of these smaller groups have been engaged in various levels of "one-upsmanship" as ever more speculative theories are aggressively promoted so as to attract attention away from competing groups. The result is an impossible to discern cacophony of competing theories, confusing or conflicting objectives, and ultimate frustration for both those involved and those seeking to learn. It doesn't matter that the confusing mix of theories is by accident or design, the traditional conspiracy theorist will comment that there is no such thing as a coincidence, and that everything happens for a reason.

Indeed.

Richard Gage Hangs Out With Anti-Semites and Other Assorted Kooks

Well good old box boy, Richard Gage, apparently desperate for anyone to listen to him, is now hanging out at the Freedom Law School (which we have mentioned before is not a law school, but a group of anti-tax nuts and assorted anti-Semites) giving interviews to no other than Willis Carto's American Free Press. And I thought they had faded into obscurity, even the Loose Change boys dumped them. Way to go Rich! You can find the article here.

Alex Jones, Ron Paul and Others on FoxNews

This is making the rounds (very critically) on some of the conservative blogs. I am always amused that FoxNews promotes the conspiracy theorists far more than any other mainstream network, considering they consider Ruppert Murdoch the evil center of the New World Order.

Moron the San Francisco Morons

Carol Brouillet provides us with her report from Baghdad by the Bay:

After much police harassment at the Civic Center for attempting to attach our large banners to trees, we broke down and bought a decent awning, so that we could legally put up our banners, and fend off the rain. The weather report was not promising, nor the looming clouds when I left Palo Alto at 8 am heading north. It is hard, if not impossible to pass out flyers, and not ruin our sound system, books, and educational materials when it is raining, and the turnout at rallies and marches is certainly smaller when the weather is bad.

The crowd was too small, and there were more signs and banners than people:

We were a bit late for the rally, but glad to see many large 9/11 Truth banners, and signs, actually we had almost more than we could feasibly carry and all the cars were parked at the Civic Center, so it was a logistical challenge to find enough people to carry everything. The number of people was disappointingly small; I was expecting between 5 and 15 thousand, but I wondered if there were even a thousand people.

Where's Waldo: the Troofer Edition

I am always amused when the troofers try and prove how active they are, and fail miserably. An example of this is this news photo from a recent anti-war protest in San Francisco, posted over at 911 Blogger. Quick, find the actual troofer. You have 15 seconds!

If You Want to Know Where Alex Gets that Claim that the NWO Wants 80% of Us Dead

It's from doofuses like this:

JONATHON PORRITT, one of Gordon Brown’s leading green advisers, is to warn that Britain must drastically reduce its population if it is to build a sustainable society.

Porritt’s call will come at this week’s annual conference of the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), of which he is patron.

The trust will release research suggesting UK population must be cut to 30m if the country wants to feed itself sustainably.

Anybody want to bet that Mr Porritt has not had his vasectomy yet? According to his Wikipedia page, he has inflicted two daughters on this fragile planet.

And here's the 80%:

However, Porritt is winning scientific backing. Professor Chris Rapley, director of the Science Museum, will use the OPT conference, to be held at the Royal Statistical Society, to warn that population growth could help derail attempts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Rapley, who formerly ran the British Antarctic Survey, said humanity was emitting the equivalent of 50 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

“We have to cut this by 80%, and population growth is going to make that much harder,” he said.

Even The John Birchers Are Smarter Than Troofers

Not by much, I will grant you.

Prison Planet Fails the Reading Comprehension Test, Again

From time to time I browse over to Alex Jones' Prison Planet website just to see what nutty things they are going on about. This morning I was surprised to see this shocking headline:

Army Dispatched in Response to End the Fed Protests

I was expecting to hear lurid tales of combat vets baring truncheons brutally beating conspiracy theorists, but alas I was disappointed. They post the army documents as supposed proof, and if you read them, you find out this has nothing to do with the army being "dispatched". The ironic thing is the first paragraph of the article actually lays this out.

The Liberty Restoration Project blog has posted an advisory released last November by the United States Army Reserve. “The United States Army Reserve Command is publishing this Force Protection Advisory to advise all Army Reserve personnel of the planned protests at all Federal Reserve Banks and office locations within the United States on 22 November 2008,” the document reads. “This message provides situational awareness and recommended mitigation measures.”

Hello, this is a Force Protection Advisory, it is just letting Army personnel know that there is a major protest scheduled and to be aware of it. What are those ominous "mitigation measures"? Well that is in paragraph 5 of the document:

Precautions. Be aware of your environment at all times. If you are verbally assaulted, do not retaliate by getting into a physical altercation. Whenever you can, call the local law enforcement authorities. Carry your cell phone.

OMG! Martial law. They allow military people to have cell phones!!

This actually is a routine form letter. As a member of the National Guard I get these just about anytime there is a major anti-war protest. They don't want military personnel to accidentally get caught up in protests, it has nothing to do with any "response" to the protest itself, other than avoiding them.

Korey Rowe Interviewed

Korey Rowe, the quiet one of the Loose Change trio, gets interviewed for a website called "The American Dream". It turns out he is a panconspiracy believer like Jason Bermas.

NAD: Would you like to choose one of these to answer, elaborate on?

I don't ask this to make fun. I ask because I really seek the answers.

— Are UFOs real? Are there unidentified flying objects?

Yes.

— Did we land on the moon in 1968?

No.

— Did Bush knock down the towers?

No.

— Was Paul Wellstone's death an accident?

No.

— The Oklahoma City bombing? Wasn't that just another U.S. government terrorist exercise?

Correct.

— Waco. We burned kids, right? You can see flames shooting out of the tanks.

Not 100 percent.

— Is Bigfoot real?

Sure.

Although for pure losing touch with reality, he rewrites modern politics.

NAD: Oh ... one more thing [you are probably too young to remember Columbo, right?]Did Bush and whomever steal the elections — with all this already in mind?Do you ever wonder about that?

KOREY ROWE:Votes do not have anything to do with an election. The electoral college puts whom they want in power.

Odd, the candidates seem to spend quite a lot of time campaigning for those votes regardless...

Newton's Bit Pounds Gordon Ross

The Scottish HVAC guy may never recover:

Incorrect. This should be self-explanatory to an engineer, but I guess you didn’t have to take any Mechanics of Materials classes. Under an arbitrary amount of work, the top and bottom buckle points will rotate X degrees, however the middle one will rotate an angle of 2*X. Each buckle point absorbs the same amount of energy. Let me know if you need me to explain this further, it’s a tad bit complicated (I’m lying here: I’m trying to protect your feelings, it’s really not complicated at all).

Arcterus to Interview Hoffman

One of the newer Truth Action guys is going to interview Jim Hoffman on Friday and eventually post it on YouTube.

One question I hope will be asked is whether Hoffman would care to debate Mark Roberts as Arcterus himself suggested a few weeks ago:

Mark Roberts seemingly debates only with those who fall for all the hoax theories or are ill-informed. I've never once heard him debate with Jim Hoffman, one of the best researchers in the movement I think, or any other such discerning researchers.

I obviously can't speak for Roberts or the Hardfire folks, but I personally believe that they would be willing to entertain such a debate.

Update On Beck

Got a lot of pushback on the last post, so I thought I'd clarify. No, Glenn Beck is not a 9-11 Truther. But he is drinking the Kool-Aid on a lot of other conspiracy theory stuff. When somebody tells me he can't debunk the FEMA camps, I do not assume he's talking about the potential relocation camps that may be needed in the event of another natural disaster like Katrina. When he says:

If you trust our government, it’s fine. If you have any kind of fear that we might be heading towards a totalitarian state: look out. Buckle up. There’s something going on in our country … that ain’t good.

I smell the same kind of paranoid nuttery that we get from the "Truthers". Yes, he has denounced the "Truthers" in the past, but you know how it is, he'll happily pick up two or three other zany things that Alex Jones obsesses about.

There is a responsible opposition to the Obama Administration, just as there was a responsible opposition to the Bush Administration. And then there is the loony opposition to the Obama Administration, just as there was the loony opposition to Bush. I am not going to withhold criticism from the loons on my side of the fence politically. Arguably it's off-topic here, but we have covered the fevered fantasies of the FEMA camps here in the past.

And the 9-11 Troofers are doing nothing right now, so I've got nothing else to cover.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Are We About to Get Conservative Truthers?

I don't know, but that idiot Glenn Beck is getting pretty close.

We are a country that is headed towards socialism, totalitarianism, beyond your wildest dreams. I have to tell you: I’m doing a story tonight that I wanted to debunk – these FEMA camps – I’m tired of hearing about them – you know about them? - I wanted to debunk them. We’ve now for several days done research on them. I can’t debunk them! If you trust our government, it’s fine. If you have any kind of fear that we might be heading towards a totalitarian state: look out. Buckle up. There’s something going on in our country … that ain’t good.

Hooo boy! Over at JREF they have a phrase, "the mark of woo". A new poster will sign up and in his first post he'll say something like, "I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I do have one or two questions..." sounding quite reasonable. Of course three or four posts later he's doing the "freefall speed into its own footprint! 84% of the people agree 9-11 was an inside job."

This is similar. How many times have we heard 9-11 Troofers start out saying "I tried to debunk this but I couldn't." Brad Waddell used that exact formulation during the intro to 9-11 Mysteries. Sherry Clark said she became a truther after trying (and failing) to debunk Loose Change (which of course says more about her than about Loose Change). Richard Gage became a Truther after hearing DRG on the radio and being unable to debunk him. In fact I think even the Great God Griffin claims that it was his own inability to debunk 9-11 Troof that compelled him to write New Pearl Harbor.

Yes, Glenn, the FEMA death camps are real. We've got a Chinese-made guillotine that will fit that neck of yours just perfectly.

Catherine Austin Fitts: Somebody's Been Poisoning Me

She doesn't come up much these days; she's passe among the troofers, but apparently she was one of the original board members of 911truth.org.

She hasn't lost her paranoia. On a Pacifica radio station the other day, she claimed that she had been poisoned four times in the past.

Starting about 18:00 in:

Fitts: "In 2004, I wrote a letter to Condoleezza Rice about 9-11, that got picked up by UPI and sort of caused consternation to the administration and then June 14th I had litigation against the federal government. We won the big case against the federal government on June 14th and I got a signal from my lawyers that the Department of Justice wanted to settle and I had arranged a Swiss bank account because I didn't want the money in the US. I was just concerned that once we won and anybody had to pay us, they'd pull another dirty trick. So I faxed the signature pages back to the Swiss on June 16th and suddenly, Dennis, the next two days, Halliburton was the number one user on my website by a huge amount, not a little amount but a huge amount and then that third day I was poisoned very badly. Some of my doctors think they were trying to kill me."

Host: "You were poisoned?"

Fitts: "Yes."

Host: "What was the poison?"

Fitts: "We don't know. I was poisoned four times during the litigation. Three were arsenic and the fourth was probably a lead concoction; we can't figure it out. We know what my tests show. The normal lead content is 1.7 times, my original was 47. My nutritionist couldn't believe I could even walk. But it was pretty bad and when things like that happen, you're busy trying to survive, your not busy trying to 'Oh, how can I document this?' Because these aren't the kinds of things you can document, we're talking or goes--you know how do you call? You can't call the local police, you can't go see the Department of Justice. What do you do? You do the best you can, but you're in a situation which we're all in. The government is no longer the authorities we go to when you're in danger. They're the Sheriff of Nottingham. We need to run and hide from them, protect our assets from them."

The host does not suggest that she seek professional help with her paranoid delusions; instead he suggests that perhaps she was one of the people targeted for assassination by Sy Hersh's attack baboons. Errr, no, wait a minute, people targeted by Dick Cheney's assassination squad that Hersh made up late this week.

Fitzgerald to Plead Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

Yep, here comes the Truther Defense:

Immediately after the ruling, attorney Ed Farry entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity for his client, Sean Fitzgerald.

Much more details on what happened:

Colorado Springs homicide detective Mike Happe testified that Sean Fitzgerald told him after the stabbing, "There's no point, I did it. I killed my own father in front of my mother."

Happe said Fitzgerald later said, "I was convinced he was Satan. I've never had those thoughts before. ..."

And:

Sean's wife, Allison, told family members her husband "was in his own world" after the accident.

The day before the killing, the Fitzgeralds took their son to a local neurosurgeon and said Sean was having both paranoid and suicidal thoughts. The doctor told the family it could be at least six months before Sean recovered from his head trauma. He then prescribed drugs for depression and sleep.

That day, Edward Fitzgerald tried to convince his son his thoughts that the government was out to get him were just delusions, and Sean didn't argue, according to testimony by detectives.

And:

Kim Fitzgerald told police that shortly after 2 a.m., her son came quickly into their bedroom with a knife raised in his hand. He went straight to his sleeping father, straddled him with his knees and stabbed him twice, once in the chest and once in the abdomen, even as she pleaded for him to stop and tried to push him away.

It sounds like they're going to try to claim that Fitzgerald's paranoia was caused by his bicycle accident. Of course, the cause and effect actually runs the opposite direction; Sean's paranoia led to the bicycle accident.

Next date: May 12.

Cui Bono?

As much as the troofers agree on anything, they seem to agree that Dick Cheney plays some key role in planning and carrying out 9/11, and that he personally benefited from it. With that in mind it was interesting to read this article describing the post-government roles of key individuals from the Bush administration.

For former Vice President Dick Cheney, post-political life will revolve largely around two activities: spending time with his grandchildren and fishing in Wyoming's rivers.

On Jan. 20, Cheney and his wife, Lynne, returned to Casper, Wyo., the small town in the western part of the state where he grew up.

"He's definitely looking forward to more time with the grandkids and enjoying the private life," a source close to Cheney told FOXNews.com, adding that the former vice president built a home in McLean, Va., and he plans to split time between the two states.

Cheney has acquired a BlackBerry since leaving office, the source said, and he's programmed his grandchildren's spring sports schedules into it.

Of course they are leaving out the weekends he carries out child sacrifices at the Bohemian Grove meetings...

The Obama Deception Released

Old leatherlungs' latest mockumentary. I kind of expected this documentary to be more palatable to right wingers, but in fact Jones admits right up front how critical he was of the Bush Administration. Conclusion: Jones is trying to hold on to the fans he has, not reach out to new ones.

Predictably the "Truth Action" folks are refusing to have anything to do with the movie, but not because of any distaste for Jones' tactics or substantive disagreement with the message of the movie. Nope, they're pissed because Jones features Webster Tarpley in the movie, who engaged in a little warfare with Jenny, Arabesque and Cosmos over the Kennebunkport Warning fiasco.

I imagine the Jones film will have plenty of valuable information and this decision should not be taken as an attempt to suppress the material (as if that would even be remotely possible). But simply as a matter of principle, there is no way in hell that this site will be promoting this blatant disinformationist who, to this day, has never retracted nor apologized for his laundry list of lies.

Personally, I imagine the Jones film will have plenty of tripe; I've only watched about 15 minutes of it so far. It does not start well; some rapper telling us that if you aren't happy with your burger at Burger King, you can't just talk to the cashier or the manager, you have to talk to the Franchise Owner. I'm guessing that the analogy is that "burger" is the economy, "Burger King" is the country, the cashier is some minor functionary and the manager is the President. The Franchise Owner is Mr Build-A-Burger, I'm guessing. Heavy, man, heavy.

I doubt I will make any effort at debunking this video, but I will append some thoughts to this post as I watch the rest.

Update 1: Check out the adventure of the fire alarm starting at about 25:00 in. Alex and his kook brigade are staying at some hotel and just as Alex is about to give an interview, a fire alarm goes off. Alex is convinced it was all a plot to prevent him from giving an interview with George Noory of Coast to Coast AM and refuses to leave the building. Classic paranoia!

Morons At Denver PBS Station

What could they have been thinking?

It was an act of unmitigated terrorism. On March 5, 2009, KBDI, a public television station in Denver, Colorado, ran Aaron Russo’s America: Freedom to Fascism during a fund raising drive. KBDI had notorious terrorist Gary Franchi of the Lone Lantern Society on to pitch for donations and talk about Russo and his landmark film.

Russo's nutty anti-tax film was just the tip of the iceberg:

In addition to Russo’s film, KBDI offered Alex Jones’ Endgame to folks making a donation to the station. Franchi said Endgame, Freedom to Fascism, The Money Masters, and other films offered by the station during its pledge are essential viewing. “These films are so important,” said Franchi, “this message is so important [because] our Republic is in peril right now… and it is these films, this message that needs to get to the American people.”

Somebody should get the word out to KBDI about the disservice they are doing their viewers by peddling this ignorant, right-wing trash.

Alex Does Watchmen

Badly. Apparently he things Ozymandias (which he pronounces "Ozzy-Mandamus") is the supposed hero of the book, and that he gets away with his plot at the end. Of course, Dr Manhattan does kill Rorschach, but when Ozzy asks him if it all worked out in the end, the Doctor replies "In the end? Nothing ever ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends." Which causes Ozzy to ask nervously, "Jon! Wait! What do you mean by..." but Dr. Manhattan has already left.

We sense what he meant in the novel's closing scene. Irony of ironies, the publisher of a conspiracy theory newsletter, a character that could clearly be based on Alex Jones had the book not been published when Jones was still a teenager is about to (unknowingly) publish excerpts from Rorschach's summary of the plot.

Dumb Troofer Questions

Troofers of course like asking questions. It is the answers they have problems with, and usually because the questions are pretty stupid. One excellent example of this is this comment over at 911 Blogger regarding the 5 defendants at Gitmo admitting their guilt, yet again.

"Some of the men had said earlier that they planned the 2001 attacks and that they wanted to be martyrs."

If these guys wanted to be martyrs why didn't they fly "the planes" themselves? (Or at least buy a ticket and take the ride to heaven?)

Hey genius, at least one of them did try to. Ramzi bin Al-Shibh is believed to have been the 20th hijacker, he just couldn't get a visa. The lead plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, could not participate directly in the plot obviously, since he was on the run since 1994 for his role in planning Operation Bojinka.

One can also get an idea where the troofers stand by reading their defense of the accused:

I posted it here to show what we are up against. Years of torture, brainwashing etc. These patsies probably think they did plan it.How many exposed to this propaganda believe it?

I agree Joe

The torture and brainwashing must have been something. I
feel sorry for those poor guys. I can imagine their lives must
have been a living hell. It just goes to show you how sick our government and their NWO controllers are. They must be stopped.

So what are you guys doing to free them then?

Oh, Well If You Believe Him...

KSM and several other Gitmo detainees acknowledge, yet again, that they planned 9-11.

In their filing, the men describe the planning of the Sept. 11 attacks and the killing of Americans as a model of Islamic action, and say the American government’s accusations cause them no shame, according to the excerpts read by the government official.

“To us,” the official continued reading, “they are not accusations. To us they are a badge of honor, which we carry with honor.”

Towers of Sushi

Just when you thought Richard Gage's petitioner of the month couldn't get any more absurd:

Yes, drop a piece of sushi on a sushi tower ... and the piece bounces. Thanks for the analogy. I will use it next time I serve sushi to some guests! Once a week!

With chopstick planes, no doubt.

Ballot Proposition Versus Ballot Proposition

Last year Les Jamieson's group, despite a valiant effort, came up about 70% short of their goal of 100,000 signatures for a NYC ballot initiative. Not to worry, Les was confident that the signatures already gathered could be augmented with more in 2009, and thus the initiative would be on the ballot in that year.

The latest update on that is the thrilling news that they were at 30,000 signatures on January 28. Say what? I thought that was how many they had as of last August when they gave up on 2008!

But it gets better. Carl Person, an attorney in New York, has started up his own ballot initiative for a 9-11 Troof commission. (And no, I don't understand the significance of the "Re-al Investigation" bit on that website either).

Person's commission has some advantages over Jamieson's. For starters, he's not deluded enough to think the commission can be funded from private individuals; he thinks that NYC can afford to fund at least part of it out of projected surpluses in the city's budget. No kidding, Person found an article from 2006 that projected surpluses in the NYC budget in the coming years and wants to tap that. Also, Person plans to sue a lot of people and thus generate income for the commission.

Commissioners? Person plans to name a selection panel of three people who have published a book, film, magazine article or website about 9-11. Carl, baby, I'm ready!

And I didn't have to search long for evidence that Carl is every bit the fruitcake that Les is; on his home page he has videos of two interviews with Harold Channer and one with Paula Gloria.

Liberals and Leftists Question 9-11 "Truth"

"9-11 was not an inside job, it was an Osama bin Laden job with 19 people from Saudi Arabia. They murdered 3000 Americans and other foreigners including over 200 other Muslims and we look like idiots, folks, denying that the people who murdered our fellow citizens did it, when they are murdering other people all around the world."

Former President Bill Clinton, responding to a 9-11 Truther.

"I think we have to investigate a whole range of options although I have to admit, that some of the issues you guys have raised, I'm not entirely confident..."

Then candidate, current President Barack Obama, responding to a 9-11 Truther.

Controversial 9/11 Diaries

DailyKos accepts that the 9/11 attacks were perpetrated by agents of Al-Qaeda. It is forbidden to write diaries that:

1. refer to claims that American, British, Israeli, or any government assisted in the attacks
2. refer to claims that the airplanes that crashed into the WTC and Pentagon were not the cause of the damage to those buildings or their subsequent collapse.

Authoring or recommending these diaries may result in banning from Daily Kos.

Daily Kos policy on 9-11 "Truth" Diaries.

Why do I bother with these morons? Because they are destroying the movements some of us have spent a long time trying to build. Those of us who believe that the crucial global issues - climate change, the Iraq war, nuclear proliferation, inequality - are insufficiently debated in parliament or congress, that corporate power stands too heavily on democracy, that war criminals, cheats and liars are not being held to account, have invested our efforts in movements outside the mainstream political process. These, we are now discovering, are peculiarly susceptible to this epidemic of gibberish.

George Monbiot, leftist oped columnist, discussing the negative efforts of the 9-11 Truthers.

"Would you get the f*ck out of my building?"

Liberal talk show host Bill Maher, responding to a 9-11 "Truth" heckler.

By now, you're probably wondering why I have bothered to go through this exercise. Aren't these conspiracy theories too silly to address? That should be the case. But, sadly, they do attract people.

David Corn, columnist for the Nation and Z Mag.

I think this reaches the heart of the matter. One of the major consequences of the 9/11 movement has been to draw enormous amounts of energy and effort away from activism directed to real and ongoing crimes of state, and their institutional background, crimes that are far more serious than blowing up the WTC would be, if there were any credibility to that thesis.

Longtime leftist writer Noam Chomsky.

9/11 conspiracism stems from despair and political infantilism. There's no worthwhile energy to transfer from such kookery. It's like saying some lunatic shouting to himself on a street corner has the capacity to be a great orator.

Counterpunch editor and columnist Alexander Cockburn.

“There are certain obvious things we have, certain specific things,” says Huffington. “Conspiracy theories — we don’t allow conspiracy theories. If you thought Sept. 11 was caused by the Bush administration, your comment is not going to appear unless it is a mistake.”

Arianna Huffington, expressing the policies of the Huffington Post. Although I have criticized the Huffpo for occasionally failing to live up to those policies, Arianna deserves credit for having them.

The Jews Did 9-11!

9-11-03, that is.

I keep telling the bosses at the New World Order not to put these obvious signs out there, but apparently it's all part of the game.

Well It is No Skateboarders for 9/11 Truth...

The troofers just formed "Lawyers for 9/11 Truth" now they have found quite possibly the only group of people currently more despised than lawyers, well unless they start up "Mortgage Bankers for 9/11 Truth", there now is a Political Leaders for 9/11 Truth. I was bit amused to see their Statement of Members list thus far though.

OK, call me crazy, but if the organization is called "Political Leaders" shouldn't you have actually have won an election first?

More Hotties For 9-11 Troof

Hey, don't laugh, Playboy featured nude pictures of her back in the early 1990s.

Bernhard: It’s the same thing I’ve been saying for eight years. First, George Bush stole the election. And because of 9/11, everyone just stood there with their thumbs up their asses. To me, 9/11 was a total manipulation. And to this day, I don’t fully buy it.

We knew 9/11 was going to happen — we had the intelligence, and nobody heeded the warning. But everybody just brushed that under the rug. Then we got into Iraq. Then George Bush wins again, narrowly….

It’s the nature of politics. People are finally realizing that they have a voice. I don’t understand why they had to be kicked in the teeth for eight years to get the point.

Dumb And Dumbo

It's the Luke and Robert show!

Earthquake Troofers

Over at the Onion:

Self-acknowledged 1906 Earthquake Denier and radical seismologist Dr. William Pletcher rebuffed angered historians by stating that the goal of the conference was neither to prove nor deny the earthquake of 1906. Rather, said Pletcher, it was held to "facilitate an appropriate atmosphere in which the hidden and unhidden angles of the most important geological issue of the 20th century could become more transparent."

"This so-called 'violent shift in the earth's tectonic plates' is nothing more than a thinly veiled lie, perpetrated by the San Francisco zoning commission in secret conjunction with the Freemasons to demonize the San Andreas Fault," Pletcher told reporters outside the conference. "The government won't acknowledge our findings because they fear the truth."

America's Dumbest Supermodel

Debbie Schlussel writes that Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model is going the Rescue Me route with a 9-11 Troofer contestant:

The show begins its 12th season tonight, and with ratings waning, they're trying a new tack. In promos for the show that have been running for weeks, Tyra and friends have been promoting contestant Monique and her 9/11 truther views. The promos show her saying that she believes the U.S. government was behind 9/11, so that we could go to war.

Been there, heard that. Just because the new face repeating this old tripe isn't as ugly as Rosie O'Donnell doesn't make it any more valid. If Tyra Banks had any decency (and we all know she does not), she'd tell producers she doesn't want a 9/11 truther on her show, and that would have been the end.

Let me guess, she'll be the dumb one, standing there biting her lip as her supermodel career comes down in freefall speed?

As Debbie notes, the worst part about this is that the show is plainly aimed at young girls, poisoning their youthful minds.

One oddity; Debbie writes that the "Truther" is named Monique; looking at the Wikipedia entry on the current season (Season 12) I note that there is no Monique listed.

Here's the preview from YouTube:

Heheh. Okay, this may not be all bad.

Troofer Suggests Hiring a Bounty Hunter

Over at the Loose Change Forums:

I've realized most people in my world simply don't care. They either don't want to know and/or feel powerless.

It's been drilled upon every "truther" that violence isn't the key.

I ask..."why not?"

I would be willing to throw out a good chunk of change to hire a bounty hunter(s) to take care of the elite.

It Ain't Me, Babe!

Over at TruthMove, where the folks even more responsible than the Truth Action Truthers hang out, a Paul Kenyon posts his proof of the Troof:

Such a structure could topple, or buckle in either mode 1 (bend over from the top (unlikely but possible)) or mode 2 (bulge out from the center (less likely)) but should not have fallen straight down as though the earth opened up under it or it had been melted from the bottom by fast acting acid.

Actually, as we look at it in the best videos we have of it, it is not a single column but several columns solidly tied together. The top slender section rose above the several columns below. This made for a strong structure. It stood 20 seconds and I think it should have stood for 20 years...or 200 years of the calm clear weather of that morning if left alone to do so.

Does anyone have a natural scenario that could have made the spire collapse as we see it collapse in the videos? Does anyone have an interpretation of the videos that shows it actually toppled or buckled only we couldn't see it do this?...though the images, though not great, certainly show that it goes straight down.

John Albanese, correctly, laughs at Kenyon, but unfortunately this just encourages him to continue on with his theorizing:

In other words, in straight down collapse of the spire after the 20 second existence of it after the WTC 1 collapse, we have proof of human hands in the spire's collapse. This would be proof positive of foreknowledge, for example, and access for some time to set charges all along those columns...or of some other mechanism deliberately planned and deployed. What we have, then, is inarguable proof that the WTC collapses were not due to the aircraft impacts but that the whole thing was set up as a made for television event for public consumption...The buildings were rigged to collapse...no question. So, where do we go from here? Can we take this to court?

Yes, but I suggest a court where the judge harrrumppphs a lot and says things like "This is highly irregular, but..."

This is the same basic problem the Troofers have had all along; the claim that if you squint your eyes at this grainy video just right, you will have proof positive of an inside job!

Well, Truth Move is apparently full of those jaded types who've been hearing about "conclusive evidence" for years now. They're not interested in evidence, they're interested in "just asking questions" and "supporting the family members". So they tell the guy to take his "evidence" elsewhere. So far, so good. Kenyon claims to be an engineer:

I am a mechanical engineer and have worked as a design engineer for 40 years or so. I know steel fairly well and the way things tend to work and happen in the real world on a classical physics level.

Except, as the Truthers point out, he's not using any engineering ability or calculations but the usual "this doesn't look the way I'd expect it to look". Albanese:

how is it that a mechanical engineer schooled in the sciences and emperical thinking could claim that the spire was unaffected by fire - and was not hit by a plane - while IGNORING the hundreds of thousands tons of debris that fell on it that day?

How can an engineer even raise this question without blueprints that illustrate exactly what the BASE of this spire looked like - and how it may have been compromised?

gee - do you think it is possible the base of the spire was damaged, key joints weakened - and gravity simply brought it down?

Very reasonable points, points that might be brought up with Richard Gage's gaggle, which shows Kenyon as one of their engineers.

But another guy chimes in to support Kenyon, expressing disappointment with the Truth Move folks for not giving this guy more of a chance. And, not surprisingly, that causes one of the chief goofs over there to label him an agent:

I've seen the post above so many times in different forms, it's certainly become a cliche. The cheesy hand wringing. "I am disheartened by the reaction of the people on this site." The sly insults and turnabout. 'There's no point in going on with it.'

So, stop acting like a troll and you won't be treated like one.

But one step further, because I'm not in a great mood, and John inspired me to be honest. This looks like totally transparent trolling to me. Is it 911movement, or screwloosechange? What rock did you crawl out from under?

One more time. We don't have to work at making Truthers look like dolts; it's a given. Kenyon's an idiot, and the folks panning him for his idiocy are right. They're dolts too; they believe in 9-11 Troof while studiously avoiding evidence, which ain't exactly the scientific method. But Kenyon's more of a dope.

So How is That Amero Thing Working Out?

One of the more popular post-9/11 conspiracy theories promoted by the Alex Jones crowd is that the global elites are engineering a financial meltdown so they can impose a "North American Union" and "Amero" on the United States. So I was amused to read this article in the International Herald Tribune this morning.

Economic crisis threatens the idea of one Europe

The leaders of the European Union gathered Sunday in Brussels for an emergency summit meeting designed to tamp down the centrifugal forces unleashed by the global economic crisis that threaten to spin the bloc - and its single currency - apart.

In a statement afterward, the leaders tried to reassure their publics, promising to hold to the single market, promote growth and reject protectionism.

A call from Hungary for a large bailout for newer, eastern members of the union was rejected by Germany, the richest EU nation, and received little support from other countries.

DEA Security Camera Released

It was focused on the front of the DEA's building, so it didn't capture the plane. It was repositioned to look at the Pentagon shortly after the strike and shows the incredible volume of smoke.

Investigate, but Ignore Previous Investigations

Once again showing what savvy investigators they are, a poster over at 911 Blogger calls for an investigation into the "highly irregular put options".

Secondly, Congressman Kucinich has repeatedly promised an inquiry into several aspects of the attacks, especially the highly irregular Put Options which likely
indicates insider trading. He should be pushed into keeping his word and to expanding the inquiry into War Games and the PEOC activities.

Now I don't know if Frodo has promised this or not, but this issue has already been investigated to death, as the recently released 9/11 commission memos revealed. Yeah, there is an idea, let's call in the exact same people again, so they can tell us, "Didn't we already go over this?"

What do you want to bet that not a single member of the "truth" community has actually bothered to read these memos?

Sole Remaining Employed Troofer Loses His Job

The French Defence Minister takes the right approach:

Aymeric Chauprade lost his job allegedly over the introduction to his latest book about political crises around the world, and more specifically, that the 9/11 attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. were an orchestrated "American-Israeli conspiracy". The Defence Minister had strong objections to the material, so Aymeric had to go.

When last contacted, Chauprade blamed the Zionists in France for his sacking, and was determined to sue from the comfort of his mother's basement.

Overly sympathetic news report from the Russians describing him as a "victim" of the "9-11 taboo":

Note the curious defense offered by his lawyer: "He only wrote it; it's not what he really thinks."

More discussion here. It appears that the lawyer's excuse is pretty thin:

Having read the chapter in question, the first one in the book, the author of this blog (meaning Secret Defense) can attest that the conspiracy theories are presented with a great deal of acceptance and especially that the author knowingly omits the other version of the facts, that he calls the "official version," as well as the criticisms of the conspiracy theories.

Update: As commenter 9-11 Real Truth points out, Aymeric should learn this simple, magical phrase:

Vous aiment des fritures avec cela?
